Two friends set themselves an incredible challenge, to cycle the 1092 kilometres from Monaco to Bordeaux, where the 24th final of the Coupe de la Ligue was taking place. And they did it. The two cyclists were honoured in the FanZone at the Matmut Atlantique.
The day after the league game against Lille (16/03/2018 - 2-1), Luc and his friend Philippe took to their bikes in aid of charity. In addition to being AS Monaco fans, the two adventurers are also supporters of the Flavien Foundation, which fights paediatric cancer. Philippe is the charity’s treasurer.
The foundation was created on 15 August 2014 by Denis Maccario, in tribute to his Flavien, who passed away far too young. It is the Principality’s first ever charity set up specifically for paediatric cancer and rare diseases…
The club supported the two cyclists ahead of their epic journey and through its social action programme ASMonacoeur, set up by club President Rybolovlev. AS Monaco helped the Flavien Foundation to highlight its work, using the powerful spotlight of the Coupe de la Ligue final.
Through ASMonacoeur, the club also extended an invite via the Flavien Foundation to Enzo and his family, to attend the prestigious match played in Bordeaux. Currently in remission, Enzo and his mum, both AS Monaco fans, were given the opportunity to meet the players and watch the warm-up before the game.
Pitchside, a few moments before kick-off, President Rybolovlev hailed the performance of the heroic cyclists, Luc and Philippe, and presented a collector’s edition shirt to Enzo and his mum. The club also presented a cheque for €10,000 to the Flavien Foundation.
