For this second warm-up match, Leonardo Jardim went with a slightly different starting line-up from that rested on Friday against Sankt-Pölten: Benaglio - Glik, A.Diallo, Jorge, Touré - Fabinho, Tielemans, Lopes, Dias - Sylla, Carrillo.
Lopes, act II
In front of a good crowd for a friendly, AS Monaco - starting in their new away shirts - were the first to strike inside fifteen minutes. Dias overlapped down the left and drilled in a low cross for Lopes, who gave the 'keeper no chance. Scoring opportunities were at a premium in the first half, as AS Monaco were content to let their opponents halve the ball, to little effect. The Red & Whites could have gone in at half-time with a two-goal lead, had it not been for a point-blank save from Carrillo's powerful header by the Austrian 'keeper (39 minutes).
Carrillo makes it two
Glik and Carrillo were the only two Monegasques remaining for the second half, as a new-look side was sent out by Jardim: Badiashile - Glik, Raggi, Kongolo, Gaspar - N'Doram, Traoré, Meïté, Mboula - Carrillo, Saint-Maximin. The changes paid dividends immediately, as Carrillo met Saint-Maximin's perfect cross with a diving header to place the ball between the post and 'keeper and give AS Monaco a two-goal lead. A minuter later, Vienna pulled one back from a Schwab header from a corner.
Traoré picks up an injury
Unfortunately, shortly afterward, Adama Traoré picked up a knee injury and had to come off. He was followed a few minutes later by Raggi, who left the field with an ice pack on his thigh. Taking advantage of some momentary disorganisation following the changes, Rapid Vienna equalised through Thunderwald (71st minute). The Austrians' pre-season started earlier than the Red & Whites', and ended the game on top, although they were unable to find an advantage, notably thanks to Badashile who saved well in the 84th minute. The game rounded off AS Monaco's Austrian training camp, and they will head back to La Turbie on Monday before travelling to Switzerland on Thursday, for three more friendlies.
