Lyon’s defeat against Montpellier on Friday night heralded a tricky weekend for the sides at the top of the table. That may prove to be true for the Red & Whites this evening as they take on a resurgent Marseille, but tonight’s clash offers the opportunity to overtake OL and OGC Nice.
Nice were beaten by Toulouse last night, giving Leonardo Jardim and his men the chance to leapfrog them. Meanwhile, Caen face a tough test at Bordeaux this afternoon... But a prestige victory at the Vélodrome would be a big help for AS Monaco, who have Stade Rennais, St-Etienne, Lorient, Nantes and OM hot on their heels.
This final game of November is all the more important, as AS Monaco host Caen on Wednesday with another opportunity to push on up the table and end the first half of the season in second place. And finally, for the Monegasques there’s the prospect of putting Thursday’s undeserved defeat to Anderlecht well and truly behind them.
