Born on 5 July 1996 in Ajaccio, the central attacking midfielder and French under-21 international, who came up through the Caen academy before going on to play for Rennes, normally plays on the left wing but can also perform on the right and in the attacking line. The lanky left-footer – at 1.88 metres tall, he weighs 74 kilos – has a fast, technical style. He played 25 matches (making three starts) and scored four goals during the last Ligue 1 season. His goal tally included two against AS Monaco on matchday 38, when Monaco scored a 3–2 victory over Rennes. As a result of his performance, he was called up for the French under-21 team’s last two friendly encounters against Albania and Cameroon.
Adama Diakhaby: “I’m really happy to be joining AS Monaco, a club with huge ambition which gives its young players lots of opportunities to play. I’m here to show what I can do and make as much progress as possible.”
Vadim Vasilyev, Vice-President & CEO : “Adama Diakhaby is a very promising young player who already has one Ligue 1 season under his belt. He brings a fast, technical approach which could make a real difference. His skills and profile are exactly what we need to move our plans forward. We’re sure that he’ll fit in well with the team and develop his full potential.”
