With the Russian, Ukrainian and Greek seasons all having been completed at the weekend, the picture for the 3rd qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League (Q3) is starting to take shape. The matches will be played on 28 and 29 July (first leg), and 4 and 5 August (second leg).
Importantly, AS Monaco will be one of the five seeded teams in the draw to be held on Friday 17 July. At this stage of the competition, they cannot be drawn against Shakhtar Donetsk, CSKA Moscow, Ajax Amsterdam or Club Bruges KV.
AS Monaco's potential opponents in Q3
- BSC Young Boys (Switzerland)
- AC Sparta Prague (Czech Republic)
- Fenerbahçe SK (Turkey)
- Panathinaikos FC (Greece)
- SK Rapid Vienna (Austria)
If the Red & Whites make it through to the play-off round, however, they will lose their seeded status. So three of their potential opponents for the draw on 7 August are already known: Manchester United (England), Valencia CF (Spain) and Bayer 04 Leverkusen (Germany). The two others will come from among the five following teams after Q3: Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine), Ajax Amsterdam (Netherlands), Sporting Lisbon (Portugal), CSKA Moscow (Russia) and SS Lazio (Italy).
