His objective for the second half of the season
To qualify for the Champions League and give a good account of ourselves in the last 16 against Manchester City, one of the heavyweights of European football. Can we win the title? We allow ourselves to dream, although Paris Saint-Germain remain the clear favourites.
His take on the last five years
Since returning to Ligue 1, the team has finished in the top three every year, played in Europe and was even one of the best eight sides in Europe in 2015. That’s pretty satisfying. Winning titles requires even more improvement. That’s the meaning of the work done.
His favourite moments from the last five years
Firstly, winning promotion back to Ligue 1, as that was the first big achievement in the project. I also have great memories of the last week of August, when we qualified for the Champions League against Villarreal, and followed it up with a fine win over PSG (3-1). Finally, qualifying for the Champions League quarter-finals in 2015, with that fantastic win at the Emirates, in front of over a thousand Monaco fans and Prince Albert… It was a wonderful moment. Incidentally, I’d like to thank His Highness, and all Monegasques, for the confidence they have placed in me and for the support they have shown.
