HIS SIX-MONTH REPORT CARD
"I think the overall verdict is positive. Unfortunately I’ve been injured, which I wasn’t expecting. But if I look at everything I’ve done in these last six months, I think the overall verdict is positive."
THE TEAM’S RECENT DIFFICULTIES
"We have a very young team, but there’s also a lot of quality in there. We’re going through a tricky phase as we’re starting games poorly, we often concede."
"It’s not just to do with the team being young, as for example I’m fairly experienced, but I’m also making mistakes and starting games indifferently. And I think we all need to change that, both the youngsters and the more experienced players. We need to start matches from the first minute and give everything to make things easier for us in games."
"We’ve been talking in the dressing room and I think on Sunday against Lorient we’ll be giving 100% and coming up with a good response."
THE LORIENT GAME
"We have just one aim: to win. With the team we’ve got and whoever the opponents are, Lorient, PSG or whoever, AS Monaco needs to play every match to win. The AS Monaco shirt demands victory in every game. The shirt demands it."
"We want to change the mentality and start games well."
"We can’t wait until we’re two goals down at home like in our last game, and be two-nil behind at half-time. Irrespective of the result, the first half was a scandal in my view. All of the players, me first among them, need to think about that forty-five minutes. And ask ourselves some questions. Personally, I’m ashamed of that first half."
DEFENDER, COUNTER-ATTACKER, UTILITY PLAYER...
"I’m a defender and I like to be defensively solid. That’s my main job. I also like to get forward, and I think I have the qualities to do that, defend and attack well. A good full-back needs to be able not just to defend, but also to attack, and that’s what I try to do every game."
"Every day, I try to improve every part of my game, whether it’s crossing or passing, and I try to raise my performances, and do better and better."
"I see my versatility as a good thing. Right now I’m a defender, but if the coach moves me into the middle or out on the wing, it means he trusts me and believes I can perform that role, and that I have the qualities to play there. That’s postive. It’s always good to be able to play in different positions, I can thank coach Jardim for that."
