Normally quite discreet when it comes to working on positioning and tactics with his players, Leonardo Jardim made an exception on Wednesday morning, to the delight of the watching supporters. The head coach split his squad into four groups, working in two different areas. The first group took part in a dynamic exercise focusing on one and two-touch passing and with plenty of attacking opportunities, in a small area of the pitch. A mini-game at which Toulalan and Carvalho excelled!

Meanwhile, in a larger area of the pitch, another group worked on positioning with a watchful Leonardo Jardim directing proceedings from the middle. The Portuguese coach was keen to see his players practise their collective build-up play and emphasised the importance of getting forward down the flanks. Radamel Falcao was clearly in fine fettle, grabbing a goal for his efforts. The session ended with a series of stretching exercises under the supervision of fitness coach Miguel Moita in the shade of the cliffside. A little breather for the players, after a strenuous morning's work. They'll be back at 18.00 for the day's second session. (article to follow)
