After avoiding defeat against Lorient in the 87th minute, this time Layvin Kurzawa waited until the 95th minute to scorer an opportunist goal to give his side victory. The left-back was excellent in defence and created several attacking openings before his decisive strike. When the ball hit the back of the net, he ripped off his shirt and ran to celebrate the triumph with the bench at the foot of the Stadium of Honour - receiving the obligatory yellow card before the final whistle.
Layvin was also involved in the sending off of Aissa Mandi in the 83rd minute when he was kicked in the chest by the Reims right-back. It looked for a moment as though Les Rouge et Blanc would also be finishing the game with ten men as Layvin struggled to recover from the collision and coach Claudio Ranieri had already made his three changes. But he battled on and we know his reward...
Layvin Kurzawa moved alongside James Rodriguez in the scoring charts. Like his teammate, he now has five goals. Layvin won't forget his first ever goal at the Stade Louis II in a hurry.
