With four goals in as many games in the Youth League and an increasingly frequent member of Leonardo Jardim's squad, Jordi Mboula has signed a two-year extension to his current deal. The Spanish forward is now tied to the club until June 2022.
Born on 16 March 1999 in Granollers, around 30 km from Barcelona, to a Congolese father and a Spanish mother, the left-footed attacker prefers to play on the right wing and is a pure product of FC Barcelona's academy, La Masia. Pacey and powerful at 1m82 tall, Mboula's speed and technique have been a revelation in this season's UEFA Youth League. With eight goals (+ 4 with AS Monaco), including a quite marvelous effort against Borussia Dortmund in the last 16, Jordi Mboula was the main architect of his side's great run, which saw them only defeated by the eventual winners RB Salzburg in the semi-finals.
