Inaugurated on 25 January 1985 by HSH Prince Rainier III, and "baptised" the very next day with a 3-0 win for AS Monaco over Lens, the "new" Stade Louis-II has since hosted almost 500 league matches, 60 European fixtures and as many in the national cup competitions. Including the 15 UEFA Supercup finals played in the Principality, close to 650 matches have been played altogether, in an arena built on land reclaimed from the sea, like the entire Fontvieille district.
AS Monaco have played host to - and in many cases beaten - some of Europe's biggest clubs including Real Madrid, AC Milan, Liverpool, FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Juventus, Chelsea... And on Tuesday, our club will be welcoming Arsenal to the Louis-II, with healthy respect but with the firm ambition of showing the world that in this little land, nothing is impossible! Daghe Munegu!
