On this Thursday 19 November 2015, President Rybolovlev, Vice-President Vasilyev, all the staff and players of AS Monaco wish H.S.H. Prince Albert II, His Family, all Monegasques and residents of the Principality, a happy National Day.
A brief history
Established by Prince Charles III in 1857, the National Day of Monaco was celebrated on the day of the Sovereign Prince’s patron saint. As a result, the date has varied through history until the accession to the throne of H.S.H. Prince Albert II in 2005. He decided to retain the date of 19 November, Saint Rainier’s Day, in memory of his father.
The day traditionally begins with a thanksgiving mass at Monaco Cathedral, followed by a ceremonial parade on the Place du Palais, for a shared moment of communion.
