What do you remember about your first senior international call-up?
It was one of the biggest moments of my career. To play for Portugal in Lisbon, in front of the Portuguese supporters, singing the national anthem… It was a special moment before the game and one of my main memories of that first call-up. I was called up after a competitive match against Serbia, for the friendly against Cape Verde. I started the game, unfortunately we lost but it was a moment that made me very happy. I got a very good reception and it was a huge source of pride for me to train and play alongside players of that level.
How were you received by the squad, and in particular by Cristiano Ronaldo ?
Cristiano is great with everyone, it's a pleasure for us younger players to share the same space as him, already a three-time Ballon d'Or winner and one of the greatest players of all time. We're proud to play alongside him. I get on well with lots of people. There are also a lot of players whom I played with for the U21s and others I worked with at Benfica, so I have a good relationship with many of them.
How are you approaching Portugal's next two games against Russia and Luxembourg?
They are both friendly games, but they are very important for the team. This side is used to winning, it always goes out to win games whether they are competitive fixtures or friendlies. These games will help us prepare for Euro 2016, which is an important competitition for Portgual.
