Following a solid display against Tottenham, Suba kept out a penalty against Rennes and pulled off a string of crucial saves against Lyon, Qarabag and Reims. Sports daily L'Equipe included the Croatian in their Ligue 1 matchday 11 team of the week, after he made a total of six saves against Reims - his record this season. On average, he has made nearly four saves per match over the first 11 games of this Ligue 1 campaign!
Toulalan leads by example
Whether playing in midfield or defence, as he did successfully against Lyon, the captain leads by example at all times. He could even have bagged his first goal of the season at Reims, but for a great save by Placide who kept out his fine first half effort. His return to action, coupled with that of Moutinho, worked wonders for the team, and he was named in UEFA's Europa League team of the week for his performance against Qarabag on matchday 3.
Moutinho, it's good to have you back!
After picking up an ankle injury against Lille in August, Joao Moutinho was a big loss for the Red & Whites in the double-header against Valencia and throughout September. Returning to action against Tottenham, he resumed his role as the orchestrator-in-chief of the Red & Whites' play in October and shone on international duty with Portugal.
Dirar the provider
It was the Moroccan international who laid on the inch-perfect pass for Stephan El Shaarawy to equalise against Tottenham. And it was his flicked header that allowed Wallace to equalise against Rennes. After missing the Lyon game with an injury picked up while on international duty, and featuring on the bench against Qarabag, Nabil returned to the starting line-up at Reims and duly provided the cross from which Bernardo Silva scored the winner!
El Shaarawy makes the difference in the Europa League
With a goal against Tottenham and an assist against Qarabag, Stephan El Shaarawy has been a crucial cog in the Monegasques' UEFA Europa League campaign. Also heavily involved in Lacina Traoré's goal at Anderlecht on 17 September, the Italian international was the team's standout forward in those first three games.
