AS Monaco to face Rouen in the Coupe de France Round of 16

AS Monaco to face Rouen in the Coupe de France Round of 16
After qualifying against Rodez (1-3), the Rouge et Blanc now know their next opponent in the Coupe de France. Following the draw on Sunday evening, the Principality club will face Rouen.

Relieved at having got past the Round of 32, they already know what their next challenge will be. After winning against Rodez Aveyron Football at the Stade Paul Lignon on Saturday, thanks to a hat trick by Wissam Ben Yedder (1-3), the AS Monaco players were closely following the draw for the next round of the Coupe de France. Carried out this Sunday evening, the latter has given its verdict, as Adi Hütter’s men will face FC Rouen in the round of 16.

A busy first week of February

It’s the next step after the first two qualifications against Lens on a penalty shootout (2-2, 6-5) and a win over a side seventh in Ligue 2. Note that this Round of 16 match will take place during the week, just after hosting Le Havre in the league at the Stade Louis-II (Sunday February 3 at 1 p.m.), and just before the Derby in Nice. In any case, this will be the second match between the two teams in the competition.

A second matchup in the competition

The first duel between AS Monaco and Rouen, currently 6th in National and a side who eliminated defending champions, Toulouse, in the Round of 32, took place during the 1973-1974 season, with a win in the first leg and on the return for the Rouge et Blanc (3-0 then 3-1). Note that the players from the Principality club will travel to the Stade Robert-Diochon, given that there are two divisions between the two teams.
