His move to the right flank, the match against Saint-Etienne, the team's good momentum, and his striker Wissam Ben Yedder ... Gelson Martins raised all these topics at the press conference two days before the trip to Saint -Etienne (Sunday 21h). Here are the excerpts.
This season I have moved to a different position, it takes more physical effort, but I feel good. The team is better from match to match, we have a good dynamic. The tactical change made by the coach has done us well, we are calmly preparing for the match Sunday.
I have to work more defensively and therefore I have a little less offensive opportunity in this system, but it is for the good of the team and I am available for the team and the coach. We found a good balance like this so it suits me very well. It's just a question of adaptation.
Every game is different. We all play them to win them, but it does not always go as we want. We always try to work to find solutions; it's still a new system for us, there are always things to improve and we continue to work in this direction.
The match against Nice was very important, at home in a derby, this good performance brought us confidence and it allowed us to rebound.
Wissam Ben Yedder is a great center forward. Not only with the goals he scores, but also with the quality that he has in the game. We are lucky to have him with us and enjoy his qualities. He is doing well for the team, he is one of the best strikers in Europe and I hope he will continue like that. He showed all his quality in Seville, he continues to demonstrate it here. He has a lot of strengths, but if I have to emphasize one is his awareness of the goal, he is often in the right place at the right time.
Of course I want to score more goals, but the season is long. I still have to evolve to feel more comfortable and I hope to score a lot of goals this season.
We are in a positive period, we must not relax and continue to work because we are not immune to poor results. We have a quality group, but it's also a group that can do better so we have to keep moving forward.
There is a great atmosphere in Saint-Etienne, it puts us under pressure, but the players like to feel that pressure. It's always motivating to play in atmospheres like that.
The away games are more difficult. We must find solutions, adapt to the environment. It was important for our confidence to win in Nantes. Now that we have done it, we must use it to continue on Sunday in Saint-Étienne.
