Biography
Born in Algiers (Algeria), Islam Slimani made his professional debut at CR Belouizdad in 2009/2010 at 21 years old. He plays four seasons with the club of Algiers for 124 games and 43 goals scored. The Algerian striker then joined Sporting CP (Portugal) in the summer of 2013 where he will meet a certain Leonardo Jardim. During his stay in Portugal, the Algerian international won the Portuguese Cup in 2015. The following year, he scored 31 goals in 46 games with the Lisbon club and received the prize of best African scorer in Europe. During the 2016/2017 season, Slimani then flew to
England and Leicester, before being transferred to Newcastle on 31 January 2018 and Fenerbahçe (Turkey) for the 2018/2019 financial year. Winner of the 2019 African Cup of Nations with the Fennecs, the 31- year-old striker was loaned a year-long option in August 2019 to AS Monaco by his club Leicester.
