His obsession with goals, Breel Embolo… Mika Biereth talks to L’Équipe

In life as on the pitch, he is quite lively by nature. It is therefore with a spontaneity that characterizes him, et a quick integration since joining AS Monaco, that Mika Biereth spoke about it in an interview with the newspaper L’Équipe. From his eye for goal to his handling of failure, including his room for improvement, he has spoken about everything frankly.
Already playing like an “old head” 🎓
“Scoring as much as I have so far is an anomaly. What matters is to manage to maintain this level for as long as possible,” explains the man who has already scored with great maturity 12 times in Ligue 1. The same perspective with which he details how to move on when he misses the opportunity to add a goal to his total.

Big capacity for analysis 🤔
“If you miss an opportunity, you have to be ready. A good example, was the Derby against Nice. I didn’t want to miss my penalty, but there were still 85 minutes left. If I had a mental block, then what happens? I become useless. (…) You will never be able to convert 100% of your chances, but having the right mentality will allow you to score the next one.” It is thus with the mentality of an old hand that Mika tries to analyze his performances.
A talent still to be polished 💎
He is also aware that he still has great potential for development ahead of him, particularly in Champions League matches: “When you face Nicolas Otamendi, who is a World Champion, it is difficult to do better. I have to continue learning, I am only 22 years old!” Twenty-two years old, but already has above-average experience and analytical skills.
Mika-Breel, a big time duo! 🛴
But his youth does not prevent him from getting along well with the most “experience” elements of the locker room, like Breel Embolo, with whom he gets along very well. “In everyday life, we’re quite similar. Breel is one of the best guys I’ve met in football. We live very close to each other. The other day, he helped me get a scooter because my car hadn’t arrived yet.”
