In their fifth pre-season match, theRouge et Blanclost to Genoa (1-2). This match was the opportunity, among other things, for ew recruit Lamine Camara to make his debut and for Caio Henrique to return to action, under the eyes of President Dmitry Rybolovlev, who was present at the Performance Center, seated near CEO Thiago Scuro. ✍️

A debut for Camara!

Four days after a win over Feyenoord, Adi Hütter decided to play the same system, stciking with a 3-4-1-2. Lamine Camara notably started for the first time since his arrival. The start of the match was totally in favor of AS Monaco, who had chances through Takumi Minamino (1'), the new number 15 of the Rouge et Blanc (8') and Breel Embolo (12'). But each time the Italians' 'keeper was well-positioned.

Monaco are unrewarded

Unfortunately, on one of the first opposing attacks, Genoa opened the scoring through Junior Messias, who scored with a header (16'). Shortly thereafter, Vitinha's shot came off the bar (18'). It was a match where the story was told by the woodwork as Folarin Balogun also hit the post following a sublime curling shot with his right foot (28').
The start of the second half was reminiscent of the first and Balo's goal was disallowed for offside (46'). The opposition responded five minutes later by Retegui whose shot was overhit and was easily caught by Philipp Köhn (51'), before Aaron Martin's shot found its way into the top corner (58').

A second goal for Ilenikhena

After this second goal conceded, the Austrian manager took the opportunity to make several changes and we noted in particular the entries of George Ilenikhena and Caio Henrique for his first appearances in this pre-season. The left back has lost none of his magic left foot by sending in a perfect free kick to Mohammed Salisu, whose deflection at close range was pushed away (78').

TheRouge et Blancdid not give up and on one of their last chances, would reduce the score. On a pass from Félix Lemarechal, who had come on five minutes earlier, the new striker won a one-on-one, thus offering himself his second goal of this preseason (90').

Barça to finish the preseason

Despite a final chance for Myron Boadu, finally flagged offside, the players of the club from the Principality lost 2-1 against Genoa. The next match is scheduled for next Monday (8 p.m.) Barça in the Trophée Gamper  in the team's final preseason match, before starting Ligue 1 on August 17 against Saint-Etienne.
