Robert Moreno: "I am very happy with the work"
Two days before the 21st matchday of Ligue 1 Conforama and the match against RC Strasbourg, Robert Moreno spoke about Saturday's match, the transfer window and the returns of Jovetic and Jorge. Excerpts.
We now have a lot of matches to play. We will play every three days. I'm very happy with the work we do in training. Monday's game was good, to see some other players participating in the first team.
I think Strasbourg will play with 5 defenders as in the reverse fixture. We are used to playing against these systems. We have the solutions. The match will be difficult for the squad. They will have to cover the spaces well and manage the opposing players.
We have put some names on the table. We speak, discuss. After that, we decide but it's not just a question of profile but also an economic question. If I can, I take Messi. AS Monaco’s work with young people is good. They have quality. I think we have to find a mix between youth and experience. With that, we can work well.
Jorge is an exceptional player. He has the quality to be with us. He did things well, not just on Monday, but in training, too. He can give me solutions for this position. The players need pressure to play well otherwise they will relax.
Our captains were not on the pitch. It’s a matter of respect to give the armband to Jovetic, he’s the one with the most experience at the club after them.
He’s a different player. He has the quality to play a final pass. When he has the ball, something can happen. During training, it's incredible. It’s good to have "Jove" with me. He can start at one position and finish at another during a match.
Fabregas has the qualities to give continuity to the game. He was world champion and European champion by doing what he does. He can do anything when you want to keep the ball like we do.
We have greatly improved at set pieces. The goal we conceded against St-Pryvé / St-Hilaire was on a counter attack. We must continue to work on this aspect. I think the team has progressed collectively on defense, I'm happy.
