Big saves, clean sheets… The top form of Radoslaw Majecki
Author of seven saves last weekend to preserve AS Monaco's victory against Stade Rennais (1-0), the Polish international proved that he was currently one of the best goalkeepers in Ligue 1. Here are the numbers that prove it.

It was another massive performance. Solid from the first to the last second, Radoslaw Majecki made a massive contribution on Sunday to the Rouge et Blanc getting their first win of 2024 at the Stade Louis-II against Rennes (1-0). The Monégasque goalkeeper kept the Bretons at bay, and was even named MVP of the match on the AS Monaco App. This only confirms his role as one of the best goalkeers in Ligue 1, and the proof is here in stats. 📊

Solid on his line 🧤

A starter in the league since a crucial win in Lens (2-3), the last Monegasque rampart has since made 34 saves in six rounds, for an average of… 5.7 per match! Against SRFC, he was decisive seven times, including a huge save on Martin Terrier’s point-blank volley. This was before an authoritarian double stop against the the Gouiri-Bourigeaud. The result was a real masterclass and earned him a place in the team of the 28th matchday.

First of all, I want to say that it was a very good Ligue 1 match with excellent goalkeepers. Radek made some great saves, as did Mandanda on the other side. (...) It's a very big victory which breaks our run at home, and an important result against a good team.

Avoiding goals ❌

Thanks to his saves, Radeck has allowed our Rouge et Blanc to concede 5.9 goals less than expected, according to the expected goals collected by data specialist Sofascore. In other words, if the team has conceded six times in the last six matches, it should have been twelve times in reality.

He had an incredible match today! He saved us so much, he made very important saves in the match. I think that's what allowed us to finish the match well.

In clean sheet mode 🧹

In the meantime, the Polish goalkeeper and the Monaco defense have recorded three clean sheets in Ligue 1: against Paris Saint-Germain (0-0, 7 saves by Majecki) and Rennes (1-0) at home, as well as on the road against Strasbourg (a 0-1 win). All this makes Radoslaw Majecki Mr. 50%! A save ratio which allows him (almost) to compete with Gianluigi Donnarumma at the top of the elite goalkeeper team ratings ranking.

A top average 👌

Indeed, with an average rating of 6.33 in the national sports daily on his outings in the league, the native of Starachowice would be at the top of the French league. However, he will only appear after at least 10 matches played, which explains why the Italian goalkeeper of PSG currently occupies the leader’s spot (6.32).

Mr. MVP  🏆

Ratings are good, but the support of the fans is even better! By being coted elected MVP of the victory against Stade Rennais, Radeck obtained his second title in nine appearances in all competitions. He had in fact already been voted the same in the Round of 64 of the Coupe de France in Lens, as part of qualification on the part of the Rouge et Blanc on penalties against the Sang et Or. The Monegasque goalkeeper in that instance stopped two attempts from the hosts, before the victorious attempt by Soungoutou Magassa (1-1, 7-8 penalties).

Rise. Risk. Repeat.
