Back in action against Reims, the Monegasque right back spoke to the media to discuss the team's trip to Ajaccio this Sunday (1 p.m.), as part of the 28th day of Ligue 1.

Vandi is back ! After making his return against Reims last weekend, Vanderson wants to continue to rack up minutes to help AS Monaco secure a European spot at the end of the season. So before the trip to Ajaccio (Sunday, 1 p.m.), the Brazilian spoke about his situation and the team’s state of mind.

I'm happy to be available again and I've been working hard physically and technically to be ready to help the team. I have done this in the past and I want to continue this momentum. I give my all on a daily basis and listen to the coach. I am also ready to play in all positions as long as it brings something to good to the collective.

His return to competition

It’s always difficult to be sidelined for a month. It was a long period but it’s now behind me. I’m happy to be available again and I’ve been working hard physically and technically to be ready to help the team. I have done this in the past and I want to continue this momentum. I give my all on a daily basis and listen to the coach. I am also ready to play in all positions as long as it brings something to good to the collective.

The ingredients to get back to the best

I think it is absolutely necessary to get back to our best. We work hard in training to do that, because we want to find our game, especially in the use of the ball. We are above all focused on ourselves, and for the next match in Ajaccio, we will do everything to regain victory against a team that remains dangerous despite its position in the standings.

I am always very motivated, I want to give the best of myself every day. I gain in maturity and experience, and I remain ready to be able to perform

Regaining form against Ajaccio

We are all aware of the importance of this match, and we know that it will be a big battle. It’s always difficult to face a team that is fighting for its survival, especially in this particular atmosphere. We have been warned and we will do our best to turn things around and win the game. We have a quality squad that is capable of succeeding.

The mood in the group

Trust? I think it is still there. Obviously, it’s always difficult when you have four bad results in a row, especially the elimination from the Europa League which is hard to digest. But the whole squad is working every day in training to get going again. We’re trying to see what we can improve, it’s our desire to progress and get back on the podium.

The pressure of needing results

I don’t put too much pressure on myself, and it’s the same for the rest of the squad. I am always very motivated, I want to give the best of myself every day. I gain in maturity and experience, and I remain ready to be able to perform. Especially since we are working together on a psychological level, and it is a precious need on a daily basis for the squad and for me personally.

The role of Axel Disasi

I get on well with Axel. He is having a good season, and is consistent in his performances. He shares his experience. He does not hesitate to talk a lot to the group, he is an important player for us. It is clear that any player in a collective needs the others to arrive be called up as was the case for Axel and Youssouf for the World Cup. Axel always has a smile, he is happy in the locker room, and I don’t think he is particularly affected by not being called up. On the contrary, it will re-motivate him even more for the future!

He is exemplary, he is a true professional who is obsessed with work every day, he constantly looks to improve. It's a chance to be alongside him, we help each other on and off the pitch, he's an example for me and it's a pleasure to be working with him on a daily basis.

His relationship with Ruben Aguilar

I have a great relationship with him, and he is appreciated by everyone in the dressing room. He is exemplary, he is a true professional who is obsessed with work every day, he constantly looks to improve. It’s a chance to be alongside him, we help each other on and off the pitch, he’s an example for me and it’s a pleasure to be working with him on a daily basis. He brings a lot of positivity to the team.

Rise. Risk. Repeat.
