Relive the "2010s" of AS Monaco with 100 dates that have defined our club over the last ten years. Part 6.
June 22, 2016 – Benjamin Mendy signs for AS Monaco. After coming through at Le Havre and playing with OM, the left back would be one of the biggest revelations of the 2016-2017 season.
July 1, 2016 – After two successive loans to Manchester United and Chelsea, Radamel Falcao returns to AS Monaco. Appointed captain, he will be the figurehead of a legendary 2016-2017 season for AS Monaco.
July 4, 2016 –AS Monaco announce the signing of Kamil Glik, then captain of  Torino and author of an excellent Euro 2016 with Poland. The central defender would quickly become part of the first team.
July 8, 2016 – Djibril Sidibé arrives from LOSC and joins the team in a training camp in Lausanne. His recruitment, added to those of Benjamin Mendy and Kamil Glik, strengthens the red and whites’ defence.
July 10, 2016 – Portugal becomes European champion by defeating France in the final. The Monegasque midfielder, Joao Moutinho, provides an assist on the goal by Eder which knocked out Les Bleus in overtime. Ricardo Carvalho is also part of this Portuguese selection as well as Adrien Silva, who would join AS Monaco in January 2019.
July 27, 2016 – As Turkey is shaken by a serious political crisis, AS Monaco travels to Istanbul to take on Fenerbahçe. The 2-1 defeat preserves the chances of qualification in the return leg. Radamel Falcao scores the first goal of the season. He would finish the season with 31 goals in all competitions.
August 3, 2016 – AS Monaco won 3-1 against Fenerbahçe and qualified for the Champions League play-offs.
August 23, 2016 – After winning in Spain in the first leg, AS Monaco also won their return match against Villarreal by the smallest of margins (1-0) and qualified for the group stage of the Champions League!
August 28, 2016 – The Red and Whites won 3-1 against PSG at the Stade Louis-II with goals from Moutinho and Fabinho (+ an own goal by Serge Aurier). This first major success of the 2016-2017 season would be a precursor to many others.
September 14, 2016 – In front of 85,000 Spurs supporters in the legendary Wembley Stadium, AS Monaco won a heroic victory against Tottenham (1-2), thanks to goals from Thomas Lemar and Bernardo Silva. The epic of this European campaign 2016-2017 was perfectly launched.
