Five things to know about Vanderson, AS Monaco's new defender!
The young Brazilian right back Vanderson has signed for AS Monaco. Here are five things to know about the new Rouge et Blanc defender.

AS Monaco has welcomed a new player. On January 1, Vanderson signed a five-year contract with the Club. This 20-year-old right back, who arrives from Grêmio Porto Alegre, will now have his first experience in Europe. Here are five things to help you get to know the Rouge et Blanc’s newest defender better.

A precocious debut

A product of Grêmio, trained at the legendary Porto Alegre club, Vanderson had the chance to make his professional debut there. He was quick to do this, having won a place in the first team at just 19 years old. Even better, a week later, in his second professional match, he scored his first goal with a superb header across goal, one which he celebrated on his knees and in tears, as if struck by such early success.

An attacking profile

With that goal in his second match, you will understand Vanderson has real qualities in the offensive half. In his training, he moved to the position of right back while retaining his ability to get forward into the opposing half. The proof is in the statistics, since in 30 league matches he scored three goals and delivered two assists. Very secure technically, he is also a good taker of set pieces.

We are very happy to welcome Vanderson to AS Monaco. He is a very dynamic and forward-looking defender, who spares no effort, and is able to bring his technical skills to bear in the opposition half and to be decisive.

Competing with a former Bayern Munich player

To get a place in the starting lineup of Grêmio, Vanderson had to beat out competition from a big name in Brazil, but one also well known in Europe. Before the emergence of the new Monegasque, the starter was indeed Rafinha. The Brazilian international, who played for Schalke 04, Genoa and Bayern Munich, has an incredible track record, winning seven Bundesligas, two German Cups and a Champions League.

Massive potential on FIFA 22

For gamers, the arrival of Vanderson is also good news, since he has a lot of potential on FIFA 22. Currently, his rating is 72, with a potential of up to 85. With 87 in acceleration, 85 in dribbling and 73 in crossing, there is more than enough about him to beat your friends on the console — grab your controllers!
