AS Monaco have a second win this week. They were far superior to Brest (4-1) with a big match by Islam Slimani, scorer of a goal and three assists!

After a few minutes of tentative play, AS Monaco put their foot on the ball and set pace. The chance fell to Badiashile after a corner but his shot was off target (5th). Leonardo Jardim’s players gain confidence with Cesc Fàbregas anchoring play. Islam Slimani came close to opening the scoring from a low cross by Gelson Martins, but Larsonneur intervened (9th). Ben Yedder in turn offered a nice shot from the right between several defenders in the area, the Brest goalkeeper captured the ball again (12 ‘).

Ben Yedder again

Ten minutes later Ballo-Touré came up his flank, beat Faussurier and shot from his wrong foot; Larsonneur blocked the shot (22 ‘). AS Monaco dominated and finally found the opening on a cross from Martins, headed by Slimani for Ben Yedder, who beat Larsonneur with a crossover(26th). The French international scored his second goal of the week, his fifth this season in L1. Stunned, Brest responded through Charbonnier who put too much on his shot (32 ‘). This chance did not change the face of the match and Slimani continued his work by drawing the fouls but it remained 1-0 at the break.

The Slimani – Ben Yedder duo hit again

The second period resumed before a false start, particularly because of an eye injury to Larsonneur (56 ‘) after repelling a shot by Bakayoko in the area. The Brest goalkeeper was replaced by Leon. The latter has just enough time to come into play before facing Ben Yedder on a pass from Slimani. He made a mistake and conceded an indisputable penalty that Slimani converted. 2-0 to AS Monaco at the hour. Not satiated, the Red and Whites want to score a third time, but Léon intervenes on attempts by Ben Yedder and Slimani, always complicit and linking together. Leonardo Jardim’s players continue to keep the ball alive and Slimani is the perfect match for Gelson Martins, who scored the third Monegasque goal in the 72nd minute, his first of the season.

First goal for Gelson

At 3-0, Brest are stifled but AS Monaco are not finished yet. Golovin is there in turn with a heavy strike on his left repulsed by Leon. Even the superb reduction of the score by Mendy at the start of the last quarter of an hour does not change the situation. In the last moments of the match Slimani shows off again for the public of Louis II by offering the fourth goal to Keita Baldé, having entered play a few minutes earlier in place of Ben Yedder. Scorer of a goal and three assists, the Algerian international received the ovations of supporters. Final score 4-1, a second win of the week for AS Monaco who go into twelfth place ahead of facing Montpellier in a week!
