Kevin Volland is your IQONIQ MVP against PSG

Kevin Volland is your IQONIQ MVP against PSG
Author of two goals and having drawn the penalty converted by Cesc Fabregas, Kevin Volland is your MVP by IQONIQ of Monaco's victory against Paris Saint-Germain (3-2). He finishes ahead of the Spanish midfielder, who played 45 minutes.

Niko Kovac had already made a bold prediction before facing Rennes, announcing that Wissam Ben Yedder would get off the mark. This time, there was no question of a first goal since Kevin Volland has already scored a brace in the impressive win against Bordeaux (4-0), but rather a word of warning. “Of course Kevin will be one of our weapons in attack against Paris Saint-Germain,” the AS Monaco coach said in his pre-match press conference with his trademark Croatian flair.

To animate what would become a crazy match, the German striker took his time before shaking the nets. Or rather, he first came up against an imperial Keylor Navas, on a free kick (9th) and then with a header from a corner (50th). Twice the Costa Rican goalkeeper frustrated Kevin Volland who also saw Presnel Kimpembé block his shot off the line on a chance before the corner kick. Twice, he would be denied, but not a third time.

By dint of his effort, the AS Monaco number 31 was logically rewarded ten minutes after the interval, where the Red and Whites had been down 2-0. On the right flank, Gelson Martins takes a ball from Youssouf Fofana and crosses back for Kevin Volland, who, with a calm determination, controlled and took teh time to turn Keylor Navas from six meters.

Coming back from 0-2 to 1-2, the Red and Whites continued their assaults on the Parisian goal. This time, success came through Youssouf Fofana and Gelson Martins, as well ass Aurélien Tchouameni and Cesc Fabregas for the last two passes. With a delicious run in behind the defense, the young midfielder found the man who has playe more than 800 matches as a professional who picked out Kevin Volland. Alone in the six yard box, the German wasted no time in finishing, to allow AS Monaco to come back to 2-2.

Not satisfied, the Monegasques felt they had a chance to strike a blow against a Paris Saint-Germain side who dropped a bit compared to the first half. Already having scored two goals, Kevin Volland remained very active on the attacking front and would see his pressing rewarded when Abdou Diallo let him slip by a few meters from the area. The Monegasque striker recovered and slipped in front of the Parisian defender who fouled him. It was a sending off for the PSG man, and more importantly a penalty for AS Monaco. Cesc Fabregas faced down Keylor Navas and converted: from being down 0-2, the Red and Whites knocked off the Parisian leader by eventually winning 3-2.

If Kevin Volland was widely voted MVP by IQONIQ for this victory against Paris Saint-Germain with 61.3% of the vote, the entry of Cesc Fabregas was also greatly appreciated by the ASM supporters. The Spanish midfielder, who came on for Willem Geubbels at half-time, controlled the game in the second half, playing the role of a number 10. Scorer for the second time with in an AS Monaco shirt, but also having provided and assist for the second of Kevin Volland’s goals, Cesc Fabregas finished second on the AS Monaco App with 30.5% of the vote.
