Merci Djibril!

Merci Djibril!
AS Monaco would like to salute Djibril Sidibé for his five seasons in the Monegasque jersey. Five intense seasons during which the defender contributed to the team's trophy cabinet in a big way -- a 2017 Ligue 1 title, podium finishes in 2018, 2021 and 2022 - and to a World Cup with Les Bleus under the colors of Monaco.

2016-2022: Across six seasons in the jersey of AS Monaco, only broken by a loan to Everton (2019-2020), the French international actively participated in the successes of the team, playing nearly 180 matches with the Rouge et Blanc.

He joined the club from LOSC in the summer of 2016, coming to a team that remained on three consecutive podiums, and Djibril Sidibé imposed himself immediately as a part of the team’s defence, as in a successful match against Paris SG at the end of August (3-1 victory, two assists), and participated in what was an exceptional 2016-2017 season for the Monegasques.

In the Ligue 1 Team of the Season for 2016-17

Taking part in 47 official matches, the native of Troyes proved decisive throughout a season that will remain historic. In addition to reaching the semifinals of the Champions League and the final of the Coupe de la Ligue, AS Monaco won its eighth French title.

At the end of this season, Djibril was naturally selected as the best right back in the league. Five of his teammates also appeared in the team of the season during the Trophées UNFP.

He established himself during this season as one of the best in his position. Already a reserve in Euro 2016, Didier Deschamps called up in September of the same year and gave him a first start against Italy in a friendly.

Uncle Djib’

Again a regular during the 2017-2018 season (two goals, eight assists), the French international fully contributed to AS Monaco finishing in seoncd place and to France qualifying for the 2018 World Cup, alongside his Monegasque teammate Thomas Lemar and his former colleague in the Principality, Kylian Mbappé.

Then the youngest player to wear the Diagonale  (16 years and 11 months), Kylian Mbappé grew up quickly on the Rock, following in particular the advice of the one he nicknamed “Uncle Djib'”.

In this role, giving counsel to the team’s youngest players, the defender trained in Troyes continued to thrive on his return from his loan in England to Everton, under the orders of Carlo Ancelotti, to accompany the young generation of Monaco (Tchouameni, Fofana, Diop, Disasi, Badiashile …). He also played plenty of matches as AS Monaco would finish on the podium in his final two seasons. (2021, 2022).

In five seasons, Djibril Sidibé played 174 games for AS Monaco, scoring six goals and adding 23 assists across five seasons. Ligue 1 Champion in 2017, he also participated in the three seasons which saw the team finish on the podium (2018, 2021, 2022) as well as have strong Cup runs (final of the Coupe de la Ligue in 2017 and 2018, final of the Coupe de France in 2021).

AS Monaco thanks him for these five seasons and wishes him the best for the future!
