Sofiane Diop is your derby MVP by IQONIQ against Nice
Scorer in the second period, AS Monaco midfielder Sofiane Diop was elected your IQONIQ MVP in the 99th Côte d'Azur derby, won by AS Monaco in Nice.

The battle with Axel Disasi was tough, but it was Sofiane Diop who finally had the last word. The second goalscorer in the 99th Côte d’Azur derby was elected the IQONIQ MVP of the AS Monaco’s win away to OGC Nice, with 37.5% of the vote against 34% for Axel Disasi.

He’s young but also capable of creating a lot of mischief. When the Nice defender Stanley Nsoki tried to shift the ball to his left side, Sofiane Diop appeared. It was a superb sense of anticipation for the young 20-year-old player who then headed the ball and beat Walter Benitez in a one-on-one to record his second goal of the season after scoring against Nantes, and this was a goal that would be the breakthrough for the Red and Whites, a decisive tally that allowed the players from the Rock to record a second consecutive victory, after Bordeaux.

Very active on the right flank in the new 4-4-2 of Niko Kovac, Sofiane Diop also did not hesitate to make efforts to track back and help his right back Ruben Aguilar, who has been called up for the France side for the first time. The number 37 of AS Monaco was also the player who  recovered the ball the most times, with eleven interceptions. Replaced in the 74th minute of play by Willem Geubbels, probably because of a booking received twenty minutes from time, Sofiane Diop has now participated in ten matches since the start of the season, making a successful return after a year on loan in Ligue 2.
