Following AS Monaco's qualification against Auxerre (1-2), the draw for the round of 32 of the Coupe de France has been made. The Rouge et Blanc will face US Orléans at the beginning of January.

All eyes are already on the round of 32! This comes after their victory against AJ Auxerre this Sunday at the Stade Abbé-Deschamps in the Round of 64 of the Coupe de France (1-2), the AS Monaco players now have a name in mind for the next stage of the competition. Following the draw broadcast on beIN Sports, the Rouge et Blanc have been drawn against US Orléans, a club from the National (the third tier of French football).

A successful start to the campaign

Despite a lack of finishing in the first half, Sébastien Pocognoli’s men showed their strength to overcome AJ Auxerre, ultimately securing a successful start to their cup campaign in Burgundy thanks to a superb brace from Mika Biereth (1-2). Buoyed by this away victory, achieved in front of a contingent of 500 Monaco supporters, they will now face Orléans the weekend of January 9-11, 2026.

A rematch of the 1980 final

This will be a major reunion between the two teams, who have already faced each other twice in the history of the Coupe de France. The first encounter was in the 1980 final, where Jean Petit’s teammates secured a 3-1 victory, giving the Principality club its third title in the competition. The second meeting was a two-legged quarter-final tie in the 1988-1989 edition, with Monaco ultimately prevailing (1-2; 3-3).
