Jordan Teze's reaction after the defeat against Lyon

Jordan Teze's reaction after the defeat against Lyon
Frustrated by the outcome of the match against Olympique Lyonnais (1-3), the Dutchman spoke in the mixed zone to express his feelings.

The scenario once again did not go their way. While the Rouge et Blanc thought they had regained the lead through Thilo Kehrer against Lyon, the goal was ultimately disallowed by the referee for a dubious foul by Jordan Teze on Corentin Tolisso. It was a decision that weighed heavily on the outcome which the Monégasques lost 3-1. It was a frustrating setback that the Dutchman, present in the mixed zone, attempted to explain. Excerpts 🎙️

Good evening, Jordan. How did you feel in the locker room after this match?

We’re angry because we played well in the first half. We managed to equalize before halftime and should have been leading 2-1 a few moments after the restart. Unfortunately, I didn’t understand why the referee disallowed the goal since Corentin Tolisso pushed me first with both hands. I then returned to my original position without touching him, and he was the one who came towards me before falling.

It seems like that goal affected you mentally…

Of course, because we’ve also faced many difficulties this season, particularly with injuries. However, we still need to be able to secure victories even when circumstances aren’t in our favor, like tonight with that second goal that should have been allowed. But it’s true that we need to improve in this area, by being mentally stronger, even though we’re not robots.

There are still 17 Ligue 1 matches left, so we still have time to climb up the table. I've never seen a season decided at this stage, but we'll have to win matches. We now need to focus on the Coupe de France, which will be taking place soon with the next match against Orléans.
Jordan TezeOn the second half of the season

Do you think the second half of the season will be difficult?

There are still 17 Ligue 1 matches left, so we still have time to climb up the table. I’ve never seen a season decided at this stage, but we’ll have to win matches. We now need to focus on the Coupe de France, which will be taking place soon with the next match against Orléans.

What makes you stay positive?

I can stay positive because we have turned in good performances in recent weeks against PSG, Galatasaray, Marseille and against Lyon tonight. Unfortunately, the results aren’t going our way. However, it would be more worrying if we weren’t putting in good performances.
