Lamine Camara: "These mistakes must be corrected quickly."
He would certainly have preferred a different result after the excellent performance delivered last weekend against Paris (1-0). Caught off guard in the first half, Lamine Camara and his teammates were then unable to equalize against Brest (1-0). After this frustrating encounter, the Monaco midfielder spoke in the mixed zone. 🎙️
Good evening, Lamine. What was missing tonight?
I’d say we started the match well today. Brest’s defense was solid against us, and we weren’t able to create any clear-cut chances. We need to concentrate more because after playing so well against Paris, not being able to replicate that performance is disappointing. So we need to correct things.
How do you assess the team’s performances in recent matches?
We train hard together every day. We know we still need to improve and get the team back to where it belongs. Right now, it’s difficult, and we’re going to talk amongst ourselves and with the coach to quickly address what we’re lacking. We’re dropping points that could cost us at the end of the season, so we need to bounce back quickly, even though there are still many matches to play. We need to have confidence in ourselves, and a podium finish remains the objective, so we’re going to do everything we can to turn things around, because that’s where AS Monaco belongs!
Has the coaching change had an effect on this team?
We’re all professionals, of course there’s been a positive effect, and we see it every day working with him. The team has quickly adapted to his principles, and the problem is us, the players. We need to correct these mistakes, and we’re going to do it quickly. Everyone needs to be more demanding of themselves, and we’ll move forward together.
What do you think of Senegal’s World Cup draw, especially with France?
Oh yeah? I haven’t watched it yet because I’m disappointed with the result, so I haven’t been on my phone. We all know France is a great nation, but we need to focus on the club and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations; the World Cup is still a long way off. It’s not a bad draw, though. We all remember that famous Senegal-France match in 2002, which I know very well because El-Hadji Diouf always sends me videos of that game. I’d be very happy to face France.
Le Sénégal connaît désormais ses adversaires pour la Coupe du Monde FIFA 2026, prévue du 11 juin au 19 juillet aux États-Unis, au Mexique et au Canada.
