Wout Faes is Rouge et Blanc!
After spells in the Belgian and English leagues, notably in the Premier League, Belgian international Wout Faes, with 28 caps, is set to make his return to Ligue 1 with AS Monaco, a league he knows well, having previously played there with Stade de Reims from 2020 to 2022.
His youth development in his home country
Born in Mol, Belgium, on 3 April 1998, Wout Faes completed his youth development in his home country. He began at KVV Rauw Sport Mol (2003–2006), before continuing at Lierse SK (2006–2012), and then at RSC Anderlecht, where he signed his first professional contract in 2016.
The following year, he made his professional debut with SC Heerenveen in the Netherlands, before joining Excelsior Rotterdam for the 2017–2018 season, during which he made 20 appearances. He then moved to KV Ostende (Belgian First Division), where he played 64 matches and scored two goals between 2018 and 2020.
A key figure in defence at Reims
In the summer of 2020, Wout Faes joined France and Stade de Reims. Wearing the “Rémois” shirt, he established himself as a key figure in defence, making 77 appearances in all competitions and scoring five goals. Since the summer of 2022, Wout Faes has been playing for Leicester City. With the “Foxes”, the 1.87 m centre-back discovered the Premier League (65 matches, 2 goals, 2 assists) and the Championship (58 matches, 3 goals, 1 assist).
28 caps for the Red Devils
His performances earned him a place in the Belgian national team. Having represented his country at all youth levels, he now has 28 caps for “les Diables Rouges” and took part in the 2022 World Cup as well as UEFA Euro 2024.
Wout Faes will now be playing under the colours of AS Monaco with the number 25.
AS Monaco wish him all the best with the Rouge & Blanc. Daghe Wout!
