Ismail Jakobs: "We want to bounce back for our supporters"
Having played 75 matches since his arrival in the Principality, the Monegasque left back spoke at a press conference two days before a visit from Montpellier at the Stade Louis-II (Sunday, 1 p.m.).

After the last match in Lens, AS Monaco will host Montpellier at the Stade Louis-II (Sunday, 1 p.m.). A starter against the Northern side on Saturday, Ismail Jakobs spoke with the media about the squad’s firm desire to bounce back this weekend. 🎙

We want to bounce back for our supporters and for ourselves. We have already shown several times that we have quality in this squad.

A desire to bounce back

We had prepared to face Lens, because we knew what to expect. But unfortunately it didn’t work the way we wanted. There’s not much to say except that they were more aggressive and better than us in their play. So we want to bounce back for our supporters and for ourselves. We have already shown several times that we have quality in this squad.

The end of the season

If we still hope to be on the podium and catch up with the leading teams, we have to win the last six games of the season, although we no longer have our destiny in our hands. We will need a little luck but it is certain is that we will give everything to get there!

On the team’s defensive issues

I don’t think the goals conceded of late can only be explained by poor defensive performances. It is more of a problem throughout the team. Certainly there have sometimes  been individual errors but if we look at the season as a whole, I believe that we have progressed defensively even if it may seem difficult to believe on the back of a 3-0 defeat.

As a competitor, I want to play as many matches as possible and that's not necessarily the case here. But I believe that in these difficult times, you have to be smart enough to put the collective before your personal goals.

Montpellier and the absence of Savanier

His absence does not fundamentally change our  preparation for this match. The important thing now is to focus on ourselves. At each training session, we give the best to prepare for the best.

On his future

As a competitor, I want to play as many matches as possible and that’s not necessarily the case here. But I believe that in these difficult times, you have to be smart enough to put the collective before your personal goals. This is not the time to feel sorry for myself, we all want to finish the season well.

Rise. Risk. Repeat.
