The Coupe de France is his competition! A starter here last season, from the Round of 64 against Grenoble to the final at the Stade de France against PSG, Radoslaw Majecki will once again have the opportunity to play this Sunday against the Red Star (1:45 p.m. on Eurosport 2 and France 3 Côte d’Azur). Already having started this season against Shakhtar Donetsk in the first leg of the Champions League and again against Sturm Graz in the Europa League, the Polish international goalkeeper (1 cap), spoke to the press before the team’s entry into the Coupe de France.
How he sees the match against Red Star
We are going to Paris to win this match. We know this team played against Lyon in the Coupe de France last season and took them to penalties shootout. They had a very good run. For them it’s going to be the match of the season, so we’ll have to give our all to win this battle.

On the possibility of another run like last season
I think we are able to have the same sort of run as last season. But it starts with playing a good game against Red Star. But even then we must not forget that the league remains the most important thing for us. I think we have to think about that first match of the Round of 64 first, before thinking of going to the Stade de France in May.
On the competition at his position
I think there isn’t much of a difference in my relationship with Alex (Nübel) this season, compared to Benjamin (Lecomte). I think they have more or less the same qualities, the same experience. We are all united as goalkeepers, Vito, Alex, and myself. The two players who do not play must support the one who starts on the day of the match. The most important thing for me is the team. If the coach decides that Alex should start this match, you must respect that decision and be ready at all times to support the team.
An opportunity to show one’s qualities
The most important thing for me is to play this Sunday. I have a chance to play against a tough team playing in the third division. But any opportunity is good to take, so I have to do my best to deliver a good performance.
The pride of playing for Poland
In the international team, we have a lot of very good goalkeepers in the side. If you want to be even number 2 or 3, you obviously have to have playing time in your club. So for me the goal is to play as much as possible. Second, it is always a source of pride to represent one’s country. I am ready to make all the sacrifices necessary to be called up, to wear the Poland jersey and to defend the colors of my country.
