Champions League, Stade Louis-II, Les Bleus… What are the key takeaways from AS Monaco's 2025?

Champions League, Stade Louis-II, Les Bleus… What are the key takeaways from AS Monaco's 2025?
As 2025 draws to a close, it's time to look back on the year for the Rouge et Blanc. Between another qualification for the Champions League, an impregnable Stade Louis-II, and a new kit supplier, here's a review of the year.

It’s almost time to say goodbye to 2025. But before moving on to 2026, it’s time to look back at the highlights experienced by AS Monaco over the past twelve months, such as qualifying for the Champions League for the second straight season. This is just one of many significant moments that we invite you to (re)discover. Flashback 🔙

Back to back places in the Champions League 🇪🇺

Returning to the Champions League after a six-year absence, AS Monaco didn’t have to wait as long this time to experience European nights again. This was thanks to a strong finish to the 2024-2025 season and victories against several of their direct competitors (2-1 against Nice, 3-0 against Marseille et 2-0 against Lyon), as well as a scoreless draw against Strasbourg, the Rouge et Blanc finished third, the 31st podium in the history of the Club and qualified for the Champions League.

A step away from the playoffs 🚶

And for their eleventh appearance in Europe’s premier competition, Monaco are once again well-positioned to participate in the playoffs, just like last season. While they were beaten in Bruges, they then managed to react well, securing three draws, including two impressive ones against Manchester City (2-2) and Tottenham (0-0), with crucial wins in Bodø/Glimt in challenging conditions (1-0) and then against Galatasaray (1-0), each time thanks to goals by Folarin Balogun.

The Stade Louis-II, a real fortress  🏰

This victory against the Turks, achieved in early December, confirmed that it would be difficult to come to the Stade Louis-II in 2025. And for good reason: the players from the Principality club proved virtually invincible, conceding only thress losses in 21 matches across all competitions, with 14 wins and four draws. The was the recent victory against the European champions PSG (1-0), and a big defeat of Nantes (7-1) in February.

The away ends were as full as ever! 📢

As usual, 2025 also saw tremendous support from away fans, with the stands consistently packed. The supporters, always present in large numbers, never stopped cheering on their team in France and across Europe, even braving the 3,500 kilometers separating the Principality from Bodø, a city located in Norway, north of the Arctic Circle. The motto “Everywhere, Always” has never been more fitting!

A new French international 🇫🇷

Just like the fans in the away section, the number of international players called up for national team duty was also high in 2025, reaching a record total of 26 players – who have worn La Diagonale – in September. It was a break that saw Maghnes Akliouche called up by Didier Deschamps for the first time as he became the 73rd Monégasque to become a Bleu ! Since then, the attacking midfielder #MadeInLaDiagonale has earned five caps and scored one goal against Azerbaijan.

A new Japanese kit supplier 🎴

Let’s go back in time a little now and talk about an offseason marked by a significant change with the arrival of… a new equipment provider: Mizuno! The Japanese brand, founded in 1906, has thus become a partner of AS Monaco in 2025, just like LMDV Hospitality, R.D.Congo, Coeur de l’Afrique and Football Manager.

And some wonderful new kits! 👕

And with the off-season came new jerseys designed by Mizuno. The home kit features the traditional red and white Diagonale, to which discreet vertical stripes were added as a nod to the team’s first Coupe de France which they won in 1960.

As for the away kit, this design is inspired by the Japanese garden in Monaco, while the blue color is there to evoke the “Blue Samurai,” Japan’s national team. Finally, the Third kit, in a celestial yellow pays tribute to the unique luminosity of the Principality. All of these magnificent kits can be purchased on the Club’s online store.
