Eliesse Ben Seghir joins Bayer Leverkusen
Born February 16, 2005 in Gassin, in the Var, Eliesse Ben Seghir took his first steps at SC Cogolin then at EFC Fréjus, before joining the AS Monaco Academy in 2020. At La Diagonale, the attacking midfielder quickly took the steps to make his professional debut at the age of 17 after 6 months spent with the Elite Group.
A sensational double on his Ligue 1 debut
On December 28, 2022, he scored a double synonymous with a win over AJ Auxerre (3-2), coming off the bench on his first appearance in Ligue 1, before playing a series of matches with the Rouge & Blanc.

If the 2023-24 season was marked by physical problems, the following one allowed Eliesse to play a full season (46 matches, 9 goals, 4 assists) and to actively participate in in the team’s second consecutive Champions League qualification.
A Champions League debut
It was a competition that the Moroccan international (11 caps, 3 goals) discovered with plenty of appetite, scoring 2 goals in leading the squad of Adi Hütter in the knockout rounds, including a win over Barcelone, Red Star Belgrade, Bologna and Aston Villa.
His play on the pitch earned Eliesse three nominations in teh Trophées UNFP as the best young player, as well as a nomination as finalist in the Golden Boy 2024 as well as a nomination for the Marc-Vivien Foé Prize, awarded to the best African player playing in Ligue 1. The attacking midfielder will now continue his career in Germany, at Bayer Leverkusen (Bundesliga).
