Lamine Camara and Krépin Diatta are crowned African champions with Senegal!
After a nail-biting victory against Morocco (1-0), the host country of the competition, the two Monaco midfielders won the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with the Lions of Teranga.

They did it! Having had a remarkable run throughout the competition, a Senegal team featuring Lamine Camara and Krépin Diatta have fulfilled their dream at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Facing the host country of the continental tournament, Morocco, in the final, the Lions of Teranga finally tipped the scales in their favor during extra time, after a very close match that went down to the wire (1-0).

Lamine Camara starts, Diatta sidelined due to illness

It must be said that the two best teams of this Africa Cup of Nations had fully earned their place in the final at the Prince Moulay Abdallah Stadium in Rabat. Having been kept on the bench during the knockout phase, although he consistently came on as a substitute, the Monaco number 15 featured this time in Pape Thiaw’s starting eleven, unlike his club teammate, who was unavailable due to illness.

An ending worthy of a movie

After two very closely contested halves, the match delivered an improbable scenario in the final moments, with first a goal disallowed for Ismaïla Sarr of Senegal (90+3′), then a (highly controversial) penalty missed by Brahim Diaz (90+24′). The decision would ultimately come in extra time, with a superb shot into the top corner by Pape Gueye after an incredible solo run (1-0, 94′)!

A second title for Senegal!

It would prove to be a lead that the teammates of the attacking midfielder trained at La Diagonale, Eliesse Ben Seghir, would not be able to claw back. So it was job done for Senegal, with Lamine Camara, Krépin Diatta and the former Monaco player Ismail Jakobs winning the 2025 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations against Morocco, four years after their first triumph on the continent!Sénégal Rek, DAGHE les gars! 🇸🇳
