Myron Boadu: "I'm ready to fight to win in Ligue 1"
Arriving in the Principality on August 4 to sign for AS Monaco through June 30, 2026, the Dutch international striker was presented to the press on the eve of the team taking on Shakhtar Donetsk in the first leg of Champions League playoffs.

A player who has already started twice in Ligue 1, Myron Boadu arrived at the foot of the Rock the day after the third preliminary round of the Champions League against Sparta Prague and he could make his debut in the Champions League against Shakhtar Donetsk (this Tuesday evening at the Stade Louis-II (9 p.m.)). Joining AS Monaco on a five season deal, the 20-year-old Dutch striker (1 cap, 1 goal) has shown the full extent of his talent over the past two years with  AZ Alkmaar, having come through their academy (88 games, 38 goals, 18 assists). On the eve of a crucial match for the Club, the newest Monegasque gave his first impressions of his time in the Principality to the press.

Myron Boadu’s first words:

I am delighted to have signed for AS Monaco. I want to thank Oleg Petrov and Paul Mitchell for their welcomes and for giving me the opportunity to play for this great club, to give everything for this shirt.

On the choice of AS Monaco

A lot of clubs had shown interest in signing me over the past few weeks. The transfer window is a time when there are also a lot of rumors. But from the moment I heard of the interest from AS Monaco it was clear in my mind that I wanted to join AS Monaco, there was never any doubt about it.

His firtst two matches in Ligue 1

The first two matches weren’t easy; we didn’t get the results we expected. On a personal level, I have to take the time to adapt to my new environment, to learn to play with my new teammates. I know the game in France is a little different, but I’m ready to adapt and fight to win in Ligue 1. I am in any case delighted that the coach has trusted me; I’m really looking forward to making contributions to this team, because we have big goals for this season.

We haven't talked about the rivalry between our two clubs, but I know it's a game that one must not lose against Nice. What is certain is that I want to beat them.

On his playing profile

I know I can improve myself in many areas but if I had to describe myself I would say that I am a player who is drawn to the goal, who plays his football with the goal of scoring. I imagine that is also one of the reasons I was recruited. I think I can also help the team by holding the ball to break down the opponents’  block.

His compatriots joining Nice

We haven’t talked about the rivalry between our two clubs, but I know it’s a game that one must not lose against Nice. What is certain is that I want to beat them.

Oleg Petrov, Vice-President and CEO: “Myron is a very talented young player who was scouted and sought by many clubs in Europe. We are therefore delighted that he has chosen AS Monaco to continue his development.”

Paul Mitchell, Sporting Director: “We welcome Myron to the AS Monaco family today. It was not an easy transfer to get done, but we are very happy to welcome him. We have been following him for many years and we know from his qualities that he is one of the best players of his generation in his position. So we’re very happy to have him here today. Welcome Myron “
