Wissam Ben Yedder: "A game that does us a lot of good"
After a big win for AS Monaco against Bordeaux (3-0) this Sunday as part of the ninth matchday of Ligue 1, captain Wissam Ben Yedder spoke at a post-match press conference.

The wonderful Monegasque run continues. Impressive winners against Bordeaux (3-0) this Sunday on the 9th matchday of Ligue 1, the Rouge et Blanc have now gone a sixth consecutive match unbeaten in all competitions. After a latest impressive performance, captain Wissam Ben Yedder, who had an assist for Aleksandr Golovin and scored from the penalty spot in the second half, spoke at a post-match press conference.

Physically I feel good, technically too. Things aren't perfect yet, but I'm not setting any limits for myself and I'm going to continue to work, to give my best. There are also the small relationships one builds with new players but it will come.

Wissam, what is your feeling after this great victory?

It’s a game that does us a lot of good because we scored three goals and we didn’t concede any. It’s always good to win a game by that score. We had some difficulties at the start of the season, but we’ve started a positive run and we will try to continue with this dynamic. We’ve been improving for  several games now. Everything is not yet perfect, but we feel that we are gradually finding a little confidence. We’re lifting each other up and we’re going to try to ride this all season.

How do you personally feel?

Physically I feel good, technically too. Things aren’t perfect yet, but I’m not setting any limits for myself and I’m going to continue to work, to give my best. There are also the small relationships one builds with new players but it will come.

No player in Europe has scored as many penalties as you (13) since last season. How do you explain your efficiency?

I train every day before a game, I try to get three or four. It’s tough because the goalkeepers are trying to read us; they watch videos. Today Benoît Costil got to the ball a little but I put enough power behind it to make it go in.

What is your view on the development of Aurélien Tchouameni?

He is a promising youngster, who is gaining momentum. We, the leaders of the team, try to push him, to help him. He’s an important part of the team, as in midfield he wins a lot of balls and offers us options. It’s important to have young players who help the team, that’s what makes a squad progress.
