Youssouf Fofana: “Great solidarity and strong character”
A few minutes after a precious win acquired in Toulouse, the midfielder and captain took the time to stop in the mixed zone to discuss this match.

Like his teammates, he gave everything until the end. Down to ten men at the start of the second half, AS Monaco’s including Youssouf Fofana buckled down leave Toulouse with a precious win thanks to a double from Wissam Ben Yedder (2-1). The midfielder stopped in the mixed zone and notably spoke of the team’s great solidarity in the second half.🎙

This evening, we were able to see great solidarity and strong character from everyone as well as a reaction after the loss against Lyon.We obviously will be happiest with the three points which allow us to remain in the top three at the end of the season's first half.
Youssouf FofanaOn the importance of the evening's result

Good evening Youssouf. What do you take away from this win in Toulouse?

This evening, we were able to see great solidarity and strong character from everyone as well as a reaction after the loss against Lyon.We obviously will be happiest with the three points which allow us to remain in the top three at the end of the season’s first half.

How did you manage to build on this solidity?

It’s thanks to the situations we found ourselves in before. I can think of facing Nantes, Marseille; there are plenty of other matches where we fell behind quickly. We knew how to react, we’ve learned from our mistakes. It’s in our DNA and we will try to keep it until the end.

You played with an offensive team and this desire to trouble the opponent was finally rewarded…

Exactly, that’s what we’ve been trying to put in place since the start of the season. That is to say, to be always on the attack, to put as many players as possible in the penalty area. And once we are ahead on the scorebaord, we impose our rhythm, our sense of play. This is what we did until Golo’s expulsion but that remains immaterial.

How are you going to manage this winter break?

For my part, it will be more to enjoy the rest because that is also part of the work. We cannot work every day. It’s about resting physically and mentally, taking a break and clearing your mind, in order to come back fresh in January.
