Adi Hütter: "We're very dissatisfied and disappointed with this result"
Understandably unhappy about the 1-1 draw with Le Havre, the Monaco coach spoke to the media in his post-match press conference.

As he said in a press conference on Friday, he wanted to get back on track. Unfortunately, at the end of a tight encounter in which they opened the scoring before conceding an equaliser through an own goal, AS Monaco were unable to take all three points from Le Havre (1-1). At the end of the match, Adi Hütter spoke with the media.

We couldn't find a way to score the goal. You can always talk about our defence or the goals we conceded, but we had several chances in the first 45 minutes. At the start of the season, for example, we managed to put them away. We were the better team today and we're very dissatisfied and disappointed with this result.

It looked like you’d done the hard part with the opening goal. How do you explain the goal you conceded?

It was an own goal, it can’t happen. There was a misunderstanding between Youssouf and Philipp, and those are easy mistakes, especially just after the opener when we’d worked so hard to get it. That equaliser hurt the morale of my players, who then couldn’t find a way to get back in front against a team playing with a low block.

Was the draw due to a lack of motivation?

I don’t think that was the case. We couldn’t find a way to score that goal. You can always talk about our defence or the goals we conceded, but we had several chances in the first 45 minutes. At the start of the season, for example, we managed to put them away. We were the better team today and we’re very dissatisfied and disappointed with this result.

Especially as our rivals are coming back strongly from behind in the standings…

There’s no particular pressure in that respect. In the last three home games, we haven’t won at all, you have to be careful with this type of encounter. As I said, we missed too many chances to score and conceded a goal too easily without having been in much danger. The fans pushed us to make the difference and I can understand why they’re not happy, as we are.

We're coming off good performances against Rodez and Marseille, where we got a very good result given the context. We were back on track by following our playing principles, which are to play forward. So I don't necessarily understand this result because we had regained our confidence, but we had no right to concede a goal so quickly after the opening goal.

Is this due to a confidence problem?

No because we’re coming off good performances against Rodez and Marseille, where we got a very good result given the context. We were back on track by following our principles, which are to play forward. So I don’t necessarily understand the result because we had regained our confidence, but we had no right to concede a goal so quickly after the opening goal.

Can you explain the decision to bench Takumi Minamino, just back from the Asian Cup?

We didn’t have many attacking players on the bench. Krépin played higher up the pitch today, because of his versatility, but he more often plays in Vanderson’s position on the right of defence. There was also Lucas Michal, but he’s a very young player. We spoke to Takumi and he wanted to be in the squad.

Can you tell us about Eliesse Ben Seghir’s first start of the season?

We are very very happy with his return and his contract extension, it’s a real source of pride. It’s not easy to come back like that, especially after a long absence. He tried to do his best and made some good attacking moves. He’s not at his peak yet, but that’s to be expected.

Rise. Risk. Repeat.
