Here we go again ! Three days after a big win against Trabzonspor in the Europa League (3-1), the Monegasques return to action in Ligue 1 this Sunday, with a trip to the Stade de la Mosson to face Montpellier. On the eve of this match, which is part of the tenth matchday, the German goalkeeper Alexander Nübel spoke at a press conference.
The team’s current good run
We’re doing better and better, and connections are being created on the pitch. The summer transfer window, which was quite calm, allowed us to work well together and to get to know each other. There’s a little black mark, though, we’ve conceded a few too many goals for my taste, but that’s just my opinion (laughs)! But yes, we have been on a very good run for some time — the team has found its rhythm.
His form and his goals to join the national team
I feel good here! I am fulfilled. My start was not easy, it took me a long time to acclimatize. Over time, I came to know my teammates better and vice versa. It makes things easier on the pitch. What is certain is that I am no longer the same goalkeeper as when I arrived.
I’m playing every week, I’ve regained confidence, and rhythm, it’s nothing but happiness for me. I’m trying to do my best, but I can still improve! As for the national team, I don’t really think about it. I just want to play the best I can. Today, I’m only thinking of AS Monaco and we’ll see in the future!
The duo of Mohamed Camara and Youssouf Fofana
They’re playing very well, at a very good level and give us a lot of confidence. It’s a big advantage for the team. Mo’ is a new player but it feels like he’s been around for years! We must not forget that we are also lucky to be able to count on Jean Lucas and Eliot Matazo, who are also very good. We have a talented set of midfielders!
The return match against Trabzonspor
It’s the kind of match that will make us grow, with the atmosphere and the challenge that there will be there for us. Playing in the Europa League and more generally in a European competition, helps us enormously to progress. We want to play these kind of matches!
