A fabulous end to the match at Amiens!

A fabulous end to the match at Amiens!
Behind 1-0 from the 9th minute, AS Monaco turned the tide at the very end of the match in Amiens! Two superb goals from Wissam Ben Yedder and Islam Slimani made the difference!

There was no settling in in this match, with Wissam Ben Yedder infiltrating the Amiens defense from the second minute and obtaining the first corner of the match.  Jovetic had the bit between his teeth as well, a few moments later on the other side, but Gurtner was up to the challenge. AS Monaco had taken charge of the match, but Otero intercepted ap ass out of the back from Lecomte at the edge of the Monegasque area, and slipped it to Guirassy who opened the scoring with a forceful shot just under the bar (9th).

The duel between Jovetic and Gurtner

AS Monaco were quickly behind, but reacted immediately through Golovin, who also found Gurtner in the path of his shot. While Amiens tried to take advantage on the counter to make their breakthrough, Jovetic could not find the target in the 16th minute. After a header by Baldé which passed  just over (24th), the Montenegrin was in action in the 26th minute for a shot along the ground that Gurtner pushed away. Just before the break, on a pass from from Ben Yedder, Jovetic tested Gurtner again, but it was the Amiens goalkeeper who had the last word. At the break, Amiens were in front on the scoreboard.

A penalty not given for Slimani

After the break, Jovetic tried his luck on a free kick, but it was not on target (53rd). Shortly thereafter, the Montenegrin played in Fofana, whose forceful shot was repelled by Gurtner in front of the feet of Ben Yedder. Unfortunately the latter did not manage to control a ball that has landed with force in front of him, and it flew over the Amiens goal. After hitting the post on a ball from Jovetic, which ultimately led to a free kick on this sequence, Baldé was replaced by Slimani. Slow to come into the match at first, the Algerian international was played toward goal in the 75th minute. Hooked in the area by Opoku, he did not get a penalty, however obvious it seemed! While the chance were scarce in the minutes that followed, Amiens seemed on track to keep the score in its favor.

Ben Yedder/Slimani, back together!

AS Monaco, however came back into to the match in the 85th when Ben Yedder scored with an exceptional volley following a long clearance from Lecomte, knocked down by the head of Slimani! The equalizer was splendid, but that was not enough for the men of Robert Moreno who continued to push in the last minutes of the match. It was into additional time when Ballo-Touré obtained a last corner on a long cross from the left wing. Having come on a few moments earlier, Fàbregas perfectly found the head of Slimani. With superb control and perfect timing, he celebrated his return with a goal that was as magnificent as it was decisive. At the wire, AS Monaco kept the result as the essential thing, never having given up in this match! Tonight the Reds and Whites are back in fifth position before the end of this 24th matchday. The next match is against Montpellier, next Friday at the Stade Louis-II.

Rise. Risk. Repeat.
