Thank you captain!

After four seasons playing in the colors of AS Monaco, Kamil Glik leaves the Rock to join Italian club Benevento, newly promoted to Serie A.

He enjoyed the glory winning the title of champion of France in 2017, the club’s first in 17 years, as well as an incredible Champions League campaign which went all the way to the semifinals in his first season. Four years after joining AS Monaco, where he has played 167 matches in Red & White, including 24 in the Champions League Kamil Glik returns to Italy and the club Benevento, which had just moved up to Serie A.

A goal-scoring defender

It’s a homecoming for the 32-year-old Poland international (73 caps, 5 goals), who arrived in the Principality on July 4, 2016 from Torino FC, where he proudly wore the captain’s armband at the time.

In four years at AS Monaco the solid defender (1.90m) has since gathered plenty of  honors, also showing himself very prolific in the opponent’s area, with no less than 16 goals scored, including 5 during his first season in Ligue 1.

We’re obviously keeping in mind this famous volley with his right foot at the edge of the area, score in the group stage of the Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen.

Already 147 matches in Serie A on the books

Kamil Glik is also an outstanding fighter on the pitch, possessed of a strong character which will earn him some original nicknames from the supporters. But above all , he would come to wear the captain’s armband, which he will have the honor of doing 33 times.

After Palermo, Bari and Torino, the Polish defender will now join his fourth club in the Italian league, a competition where he revealed proved himself and where he became a Polish international. He has already played 147 matches in Serie A at his three previous Italian clubs, always as an indisputable starter.

AS Monaco wish him the best for the rest of his career. Thank you captain!
