The reactions of Chrislain Matsima and Krépin Diatta
After the victory against FC Metz, the central defender and the right back spoke in the mixed zone. Both expressed their satisfaction following this latest win.

It wasn’t easily done but it happened. At the end of a closley-fought match against FC Metz, our Rouge et Blanc won at home thanks to a double from Aleksandr Golovin. It was a third win in a row for our Monégasques, it was with no small amount of satisfaction that Chrislain Matsima and Krépin Diatta spoke to the press after the match. Both were quick to underscore the team’s collective efforts and the selflessness on show against a team that didn’t make things easy. 🎙

Yes, we are satisfied, we aimed to come out of this match with three points, and we managed to achieve it. We will quickly get back to work to properly attack the rest of the league season. Every week, we work hard to bring back a result, but we are planning things match by match. We are doing everything we can to pick up victories, and as for the rest of it, we will see come the end of the season.
Chrislain MatsimaAS Monaco defender

Good evening Chrislain. After this victory, you regain top spot. Are you satisfied?

Yes, we are satisfied, we aimed to come out of this match with three points, and we managed to achieve it. We will quickly get back to work to properly attack the rest of the league season. Every week, we work hard to bring back a result, but we are planning things match by match. We are doing everything we can to pick up victories, and as for the rest of it, we will see come the end of the season.

Despite their opening the score, you didn’t give up, did you know you could do it?

We knew it was going to be a tough match, especially conceding a goal so quickly, but we managed to create a lot of situations. We know that we have great attackers, that’s what makes us strong this season, at every moment, we know that we are capable of getting into dangerous situations, but we have a certain serenity in this area.

AS Monaco has the best attack in Ligue 1 with 23 goals, where does this efficiency come from?

I’m not surprised, we work very well in training, regardless of the player and the position, as the statistics show that we have lots of different goalscorers, I think maybe 10? Everyone is involved, and we want it to continue like that.

Krépin Diatta’s reaction

Good evening Krépin, here you are back in top spot, how do you feel?

The match was tough, but I think we once again showed our strength of character. It’s not the first time we’ve been behind and come back, the group worked well, and the final victory is deserved. Golo’ scored two great goals, but we must also congratulate Philipp, who made some decisive saves. It is above all a collective victory.

These are two incredible goals but I'm not surprised because it's not the first time he's scored shots like this. I also want to congratulate Philipp, who made some big saves in the second half. He was able to prove himself decisive again. But as I said before, these are three important points.
Adi HütterOn Golovin's double

After a goal that was quickly conceded, how did you feel?

We made a mistake, and we conceded a goal, but it was in the 4th minute, not the 90th, we had all the time and potential to turn things around, and that’s what we did all together.

What does being in top spot mean to you?

For me that means nothing. We have to continue to work and remain humble, because nothing is a given in this league. It’s up to us to continue our momentum, and give the most of ourselves in each match, that’s the most important thing.

A quick word about Aleksandr Golovin, who scored twice?

He’s a massive player, and not just this season. Since I have been at AS Monaco, he has lifted us, taken his responsibilities, he has done us good and we are happy to have him. Today he scored two fantastic goals for us, we congratulate him for that.

You had a lot of attacking players on the pitch today, was that risky?

We do what the coach asks us. If he wants us to take risks, that’s what we’re going to do, and that’s so much the better. The more opportunities we have to score, the better off we are. The most important thing is to do well offensively, but you also have to keep clean sheets. The fewer goals you concede, the more chance you have of winning, since in attack, we can very often make the difference. We give ourselves all the means to defend well. This is an area we are working on.

The second half changed everything in this match, where does this renewed vigor come from?

The coach told us at half-time that he wanted us to play more offensively. He brought in Maghnes Akliouche, who did us good, we felt that in the first half, they were sitting deep, but with his appearance we destabilized them a lot. We had seven offensive players, we had to take risks, and if the coach likes it, then so do we.

Rise. Risk. Repeat.
