Aleksandr Golovin is your September MVP!

Aleksandr Golovin is your September MVP!
With two goals and an assist, the Monegasque midfielder was voted player of the month for September by Rouge et Blanc fans on the AS Monaco App.

He’s filled up the stat sheet in September. Impressive in his play in August, Aleksandr Golovin had however failed to score or deliver assists, leaving that to Takumi Minamino and be named the UNFP Player of the Month. He’s changed that now, however, with two goals and an assist in three matches.

Opening his account against Lens

And the Monegasque midfielder, playing behind the strikers alongside the Japanese international, wasted no time in finding the net. This was true as early as the second day of the month during the team’s big win over Lens (3-0), where he scored the second goal for his team at the end of a counterattack, within the pure style of play requested by coach Adi Hütter.

A masterclass against Les Merlus

Then in the following match in Lorient, despite the international break where he was able to return to playing for his country, the Russian produced a real masterclass. First he scored a fine goal by placing a strike into the top corner of Yann Mvogo’s goal, he then set up Folarin Balogun to allow him to score his first goal for the Club, scoring in two consecutive Ligue 1 matches for the first time since last February.

Three MVPs in September

Named MVP on the AS Monaco App in both of these matches, our number 17 was also honored in the narrow defeat against Nice, having won the most MVPs since the start of the season. It is therefore logical that he was named player of the month for September by Monegasque fans with more than 58% of the votes, well ahead of Takumi Minamino (11%) and Maghnes Akliouche, who scored a double against Marseille (10%). Bravo Golo! 👏
