xG, pressing, and more... The key stats to remember from the first half of the season!
While AS Monaco and Ligue 1 McDonald's are on a break during the traditional winter break, let's take a look at the statistics compiled by our provider Opta for this first part of the season.

They have just completed the first half of the 2025-2026 financial year. Well on their way to competing in the Champions League playoffs after their win over Galatasaray (1-0), the Rouge et Blanc do, however, have plenty of room for improvement in Ligue 1 McDonald’s. Let’s take a look at the interesting statistics from the first half of the season in the league, courtesy of our data provider Opta. 📊

A chance-creating machine 🥅

AS Monaco is the team that has accumulated the most Expected Goals in Ligue 1 McDonald’s since the start of the season with 31.1 xG, or 31.1 “expected goals”.

Supersubs 🔄

The Rouge et Blanc have scored 10 goals thanks to players who came on as substitutes in the top flight during the 2025-2026 season, the joint-highest total in the five major European leagues (as of December 15), along with Lille.

Intense pressing 🌪️

Symbolic of the style of play preferred by Sébastien Pocognoli, only Paris Saint-Germain (178) has made more high recoveries this season in Ligue 1 than the club from the Principality (148).

Thou shalt not pass 🚧

The team is led by captain Denis Zakaria, who is also the player who has made the most interceptions in Ligue 1 this season (180).

Good timing ⌚

Monaco have conceded only 4% of their goals in the first quarter of an hour in the league this season (1/27), which is the lowest ratio in the top flight.

Inside the box 📦

AS Monaco is the team that has scored the most goals in the five major European leagues this season without scoring a single one from outside the penalty area (26).

Tentacles 🐙

The club from the Principality is the team that has recovered the most balls in the central third of the pitch in Ligue 1 this season (359).

A World Champion 🏆

In Rennes on November 22, Paul Pogba became the third French player to make his Ligue 1 debut after being crowned world champion, following Steven Nzonzi with Rennes in 2020 and Lucas Hernandez with Paris Saint-Germain in 2023.

Honestly, no, I was truly touched to see the fans stand up and applaud. I really didn't expect that, so a big thank you to all the fans who were there and who supported me, it was truly moving!

Longevity⚽

Against Nantes on October 29, Aleksandr Golovin became the third player to score at least one goal in eight different Ligue 1 seasons with AS Monaco after Jean Petit (9 between 1971-1972 and 1981-1982) and Manuel Amoros (8 between 1981-1982 and 1988-1989).

A quick response ⏰

Against Metz on September 21, Ansu Fati scored his first goal in the French top flight  just 38 seconds after making his debut, becoming the fastest player to find the back of the net on his first appearance in the top flight since Yacine Bammou in 2014 (32 seconds with Nantes).

Speed to the max  🚀

The Spanish winger has also become the player who has played the fewest minutes to score five goals in Ligue 1 since at least 1947-1948, reaching this total after 126 minutes (spread across 3 appearances).

Experience 🧤

Lukáš Hradecký became the seventh player to play for AS Monaco in Ligue 1 at the age of 36 or older, after Jean-Luc Ettori, Andre Biancarelli, Ricardo Carvalho, Flavio Roma, Morgan De Sanctis, and Naldo. He is also the oldest goalkeeper to have appeared in Ligue 1 during the 2025-2026 season.

“Tackler-in-chief” ✂️

Only three players have made more tackles in the top flight this season than Jordan Teze (25). He boasts an 81% success rate in this area (25/31), the third highest percentage among players who have attempted at least 20 tackles.

Pressing 👊

Maghnes Akliouche has recovered 15 balls in the last 30 meters in Ligue 1 this season, more than any other player.
