Cercle Brugge make a big comeback in the Jupiler Pro League

Cercle Brugge make a big comeback in the Jupiler Pro League
At the end of a wild match during which it had been behind 2-0, AS Monaco's sister club won, 4-2, this weekend away to Zulte Waregem, as part of the 7th round of the Belgian top flight.

There’s been a bit of sunshine in the Bruges sky as Saturday evening sawYves Vanderhaeghe’s men show a lot of character to turn around a situation that had started badly. Playing away to Zulte Waregem, a direct competitor in the standings, Cercle Brugge ended up winning and displaying plenty of courage, in a match that was part of the seventh matchday in the Jupiler Pro League.

A double for summer signing Alex Millàn

However, the first half did not end in the best conditions at all, as the teammates of Edgaras Utkus, once again playing in the center of the Groen-Zwart defense, found themselves down 1-0. On returning from the locker room, the hosts would even take a two-goal lead in the 49th minute of play. While they seemed to have the result sealed, that was without counting on  a furious comeback from Cercle, thanks in particular to a double scored by the young Spanish striker Alejandro said “Alex” Millàn (21), who arrived in Bruges this summer from the Villareal reserves.

The first was scored with a header (65′, 2-1), then with a clinical finish from the penalty spot (72′, 2-2). It was then at the end of regular time that the right wingback, the talented Brazilian Vitinho, tipped the game in favor of Cercle, again thanks to a header (89′, 2-3). On the bench at kick-off, the playmaker Dino Hotic would finish the scoring, taking full advantage of a ball that had been nodded down. (93rd, 2-4).

A big match to come against Eupen

Thanks to this away win, the Groen-Zwart are back up to 12th place in the Belgian league, level on points with their opponents from the weekend, but ahead thanks to a better goal difference (0 against -3). The next match for Yves Vanderhaeghe and players is Friday night with a visit from Eupen,  who current sit sixth in the Jupiler Pro League, at the Jan-Breydel Stadium. Good job guys!
