Stade Louis-II

Built close to the sea, the Stade Louis-II has hosted AS Monaco’s home matches since 1985, and also serves as the Club’s headquarters.

Built in the early 1980s and inaugurated by H.S.H. Prince Rainier III on January 25, 1985, the Stade Louis-II is a colossal 30,000 m² complex erected in the Fontvieille district—land reclaimed from the sea— and just a stone's throw from the former stadium of the same name.

It includes:

  1. an athletics track and a football stadium
  2. the Gaston-Médecin multi-sports hall, home to the Roca Team
  3. the Prince Albert II Aquatic Center
  4. a 1,700-space parking facility comprising four levels
  5. a series of office buildings encircling the stadium

The stadium is unique in its design, as it is situated 8.35 meters above street level—with the playing field resting atop the parking garage—while fully complying with UEFA standards. The venue features 16,877 seats, and since July 2008, two giant screens have enabled the instant transmission of information to spectators. The canopy, meanwhile, houses the stadium's floodlighting system. Currently undergoing a new phase of renovation, the Stade Louis-II will soon feature red and white seating—reflecting the colors of the Principality—throughout the entire venue.
