Podium, records, goals… The 2400 matches of AS Monaco in Ligue 1 by the numbers!

Podium, records, goals… The 2400 matches of AS Monaco in Ligue 1 by the numbers!
By winning their 17th victory this season against Lille at the Stade Louis-II (1-0), the Rouge et Blanc perfectly celebrated the Principality club's 2,400th match in the elite. On this occasion, here's a look back at the statistics that tell the AS Monaco story in Ligue 1, with Opta.

They scored twice! This Wednesday evening, the players of Adi Hütter not only made an impression by winning a second big match in a row against Lille (1-0), only three days after doing the same in Brest (a 0-2 win). But the teammates of Youssouf Fofana, scorer of the only goal and MVP of the match, also made history on their own terms.

The fifth club to reach this total 🖐️

Indeed, AS Monaco celebrated on the occasion of this 29th day of Ligue 1, its 2400th match in the top flight, a total that started in… August 23, 1953 with the reception of Toulouse to the forerunner of the Stade Louis-II! It is a symbolic milestone therefore, marked by a prestigious win like the Club’s history in the French league. Because beyond representing the fourth most extensive list with eight titles win, the side is part of a very small circle, as illustrated by the figures highlighted by Opta.

Top 3 in wins… and points! 🥉

Becoming the fifth team to reach 2,400 matches played in the first division, AS Monaco also ranks second in wins (behind OM), with 1,078 victories, a success rate of 45% (1.62 points/game)! The Principality club is also third in the number of points accumulated (3888), and also has the second best goal difference behind PSG (+931 against +1075).

Solid domination at the Stade Louis-II… 🏟️

A favorable goal difference, means a crazy attack! Indeed, the team in red and white has scored a whopping 3,652 goals in seven decades (fourth) while having played at least 132 fewer games than the three who are ahead of it. The majority of them have been scored at home, at the Stade Louis-II, where the results are once again very flattering: a 58% win rate (699 out of 1200), the fourth- best in history.

…As in all of France ! 🛣️

But the latter do not have to be ashamed of their performance outside the Principality, as shown by their current form (7 wins  sur from their last 8 away trips) since Monaco has the second best ratio with a 32% win rate on the road (379 out of 1200). Only has PSG does better! Moreover, in the event of a win this Sunday in Lyon (7 p.m.), the Rocher club would become the sole holder of the greatest number of away victories… ahead of OM!

A black sheep 🐈‍⬛

In any case, Lyon-Monaco is already the third most contested match in the history of the French top flight (it will be the 115th this weekend). And if you haven’t had enough of all these figures (😉 @Alyumdra), we have one last little one for you at the end, offered by our partner Opta: Among the 17 opponents of the Rouge et Blanc in Ligue 1 this season, seven have suffered their highest number of defeats against the Principality club in the top flight. Historic! 🎂
